Dear President Obama,
My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.
I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor , allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.
One of th…

These kids the Kings Firecrackers entertained during half-time at an Army/Navy Basketball Game in Ohio . They are absolutely amazing. Can you imagine the work it took to learn these routines and then execute them without a single noticeable mistake? Most of these kids are pre-teens. It is outstanding!

For the past six months All Are God's Children and The Lighthouse has been running a fundraiser online for our Military and their children this Christmas. With the economy in the shape it is in, it gives us great joy to report a wonderful fundraiser that has been in our eyes a success! Thank you to all of you here on this site that donated to this cause. The spirit of giving still lives in this country! Our fundraiser for gift boxes to our soldiers collected enough to send 100 boxes to our men a…

WHEN THE MUSIC STOPPED
For those who are unaware: At all military base theaters, the National Anthem is played before the movie begins.
This is written from a Chaplain in Iraq :
I recently attended a showing of 'Superman 3' here at LSA Anaconda. We have a large auditorium we use for movies, as well as memorial services and other large gatherings. As is the custom at all military bases, we stood to attention when the National Anthem began before the main feature.

The Things I Carry
The old train lumbered up the track amid a hoofbeat clatter,
its cloudy windows streaked by rain that fell in gentle patter.
With duffle heavy on my back I trudged along the aisle
Until I saw an empty seat next to a welcome smile.
A stifled groan curled in my chest beneath the weight I bore;
I shrugged the duffle off my back, it thudded on the floor.
"That pack looks awfully heavy friend" he said with narrowed stare,
"You got a load of cinderblocks or something tucked in the…

Please keep the victims and their families in your prayers as they try to pick up the pieces of their lives and to make some kind of sense out of this totally senseless act. People keep referring to this incident as a “tragedy.” It is indeed tragic, but more than that, it is an outrage.
The following is a list of the victims in Thursday’s Fort Hood shooting rampage that left 13 dead and 38 injured, of which 30 needed to be hospitalized. Authorities released the names of the 13 victims killed Sa…

Did you know that the ACLU has filed a suit to have all military cross-shaped headstones removed

and another suit to end prayer from the military completely. They're making great progress. The Navy Chaplains can no longer mention Jesus' name in prayer thanks to the wretched ACLU and our new administrati…

If you've been paying attention to the news lately, you know there was a pretty big battle going on over the weekend in Afghanistan. 8 of our troops made the ultimate sacrifice. One base was destroyed and 56 men lost all of their belongs except the clothes on their backs. The Army is working to replace uniforms for the men. But they need assistance with other personal items. And they NEED TO KNOW that we are thinking about them over here, too.
Please help fill their "needs" list below.
